Nostalgia is bittersweet - Daniela Sgró

Nostalgia is bittersweet. When you evoke a memory from the past, it seems so close yet so far away. Moments of sorrow, moments of joy, they become blurry until you don't know which was which. You remember some moments better than there were or you appreciate someone's company now that it's gone. The past is like an forlorn city, whose ruins are like fragments that little by little are begining to fade away as our skin wrinkles and our hair gets white as snow. Nostalgia is difficult to explain, it has to be felt. Sometimes i gaze through the window staring at children and i wonder, i think, why us human beings lose our innocence? Remaining pure is a miracle in this corrupted world. Time is also a murderer, this is the life, but the truth is that it kills eras. It makes them end. The first time you ride a bike, the first time you go to elementary school, the first time you fall in love. Nothing last forever and although only remains a vague memory of those special times, they remain tattooed in your soul and bones forever. They make you who you are. All the thing you did, all the things you don't, all the things you decided, all the reasons you cried, all the reasons you laughed, all the friends that got left behind, and some love too, all the songs you loved, all the books you read. Nostalgia sometimes is tricky, it makes you love too much the past, it ties you and imprison in a cage full of past. Sometimes, it's for best to learn to say goodbye to them no matter how much it hurts. We are alive, we have so much more ahead of us. We'll create much more memories. Here we go.
